Elli Taylor currently works at Elgar Care, in Hereford, as a care assistant. She pursued a career in care after becoming a mum and wanted to find something that offered the flexibility around her family, since then she quickly fell in love with her job and the clients she supports.
One of her favourite parts of the job is taking her clients out for the day, as it’s lovely to see their happiness and promote their independence.
Before starting a career in care, she had her own misconceptions of what the job actually entails. But once she was actually in the job, she soon realised it wasn’t just about personal care, it’s about sitting down, having a chat and supporting her clients to try and live as independently as possible.
For anyone looking to start a career in care, Elli says to find the right setting for you and take the leap because once you start you will soon become very fond of your clients and love the job.
