Damian Sidor has worked in care for over 13 years and currently works at The Garth Residential and Nursing home in Kington as a senior care coordinator.
Damian is proud to work in care because he feels he’s making a difference to individual’s lives, allowing them to live as independent as they can.
One of his favourite memories, was when he cared for a gentleman who came from hospital after falling ill. When he first arrived, he was not very mobile, and many professionals thought he wouldn’t be able to walk unassisted again. Damian and his team worked on his rehabilitation towards his mobility – which within time increased. He was then discharged to live independently with his wife at home. He said, it was amazing to make that difference to somebody’s life.
There are a lot of myths surrounding care work, it’s such a rewarding role and a great career path to take.
