Support Worker – Community Support Team

Who you provide care and support to, the types of services on offer, what the role will include and where the services are based:

Due to expanding our client case load and the pressure of Covid, we are looking for a member of staff to join our small team that have been working with clients for over 8 years within the community.

The Community Support Team provides flexible, recovery focused support for people with mental health problems living in with community. We aim to provide people with a support package that enables them to feel safe and supported, so that they can move forward, set new goals, learn new skills and do things to enable them to live a fuller, more satisfying and independent life.

What qualities/skills/qualifications would you like from an interested applicant?

You will be working closely with service users, using a person-centered approach, to ensure individuals are always treated with dignity and respect. We are looking for someone who can be flexible and responsive to the needs of service users, as directed by their individual support plans. You will promote the service user’s self-esteem and enable them to express their preferences and make choices and decisions, so as to maximise their self-care and independent living skills. We are looking for someone who can proactively encourage clients to identify their interests and support them in accessing social, leisure, education and work activities. Overall, you will assist in monitoring service user’s mental health and general well-being.

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Empathy and a non-judgmental approach
  •  A self motivator, with an ability to use initiative and work independently
  • Good organisational skills
  • A willingness to learn and undertake further training
  • Good IT skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
